Historic move to upright bank notes marked by ‘turning landmarks vertical:

Tourists took a keen interest in some of Belfast’s best-known landmarks ‘changing shape’ in the early morning fog at Donegall Quay today in preparation for the introduction by Ulster Bank of the UK and Ireland’s first vertical bank notes. The Big Fish at Donegall Quay and the large sign at Titanic Belfast will ‘turn vertical’ tomorrow (Wednesday 27th February) as part of the initiative to create awareness of the historic change. Belfast artist Eamon Monahan has created vertically-oriented versions of the Big Fish and the Titanic sign, in a stunt intended to catch the eye of business people and consumers passing along the busy Donegall Quay and visitors coming to the world-famous tourist destination. The bank says consumers, businesses and visitors need to be familiar with the new designs and ‘turning the landmarks vertical’ is intended to help create awareness of the important change.
